East Lothian-based sustainable energy specialist Gensource has made its first move into professional sport sponsorship by backing rising Scottish golf star Matty Wilson. The Musselburgh-headquartered business has teamed up with the 26-year-old for the 2026 season, in the process cementing a close family bond with the former North of Ireland Amateur Open Champion, a title he won at Royal Portrush in 2024. Currently competing on the Tartan Pro Tour, Matty is the younger brother of Gensource co-founder Robert Wilson, himself a scratch golfer.

Sustainable energy specialist Gensource has strengthened its residential offering in Scotland with the acquisition of Perth-based Solar Kingdom. Founded in 2009, Solar Kingdom brings 17 years of continuous experience in domestic solar installations and now operates as part of the Musselburgh-headquartered Gensource Group. The deal marks Gensource’s first acquisition since the business was established by Josh King and Robert Wilson in late 2022.

Gensource’s expanding footprint in the sustainable energy sector has been recognised with the Musselburgh-based company shortlisted for SME of the Year at the Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards (MELCC). The nomination marks a potential hat-trick of award success for the business, following its High Growth Business of the Year win in 2025 and New Business of the Year the previous year.

Leading Scottish sustainable energy specialist Gensource has announced its expansion as a charge point operator (CPO) with the completion of its first fully managed commercial EV project at Archerfield Estate in East Lothian. The Musselburgh company delivered the infrastructure and will also operate the charging network on an ongoing basis at the Archerfield Walled Garden, the extensive 18th Century property which hosts a popular café, shop, food market and children’s play park.

Students, apprentices and tradespeople came together at Fife College’s Dunfermline campus on 12 March for Working in Solar: Careers, Skills and Opportunities, a free event highlighting the growing need for skilled people in Scotland’s solar sector.
