Gensource Appoints David Gardner as Non-Executive Director to Board

Gardner brings deep expertise in the renewable energy and grid infrastructure sectors, having held senior roles at industry leaders including SSE plc, one of the UK’s largest energy companies, and Windward Energy (formerly Bute Energy) a fast-growing developer of onshore renewables, grid and hydrogen energy projects. His background spans engineering, project management and leadership within the renewable energy and grid sectors. His appointment supports Gensource’s commitment to realising a future powered by abundant sustainable energy through delivering full turnkey energy solutions.

Gensource expands with landmark acquisition of Solar Kingdom

Sustainable energy specialist Gensource has strengthened its residential offering in Scotland with the acquisition of Perth-based Solar Kingdom. Founded in 2009, Solar Kingdom brings 17 years of continuous experience in domestic solar installations and now operates as part of the Musselburgh-headquartered Gensource Group. The deal marks Gensource’s first acquisition since the business was established by Josh King and Robert Wilson in late 2022.

Gensource’s expanding footprint in the sustainable energy sector has been recognised with the Musselburgh-based company shortlisted for SME of the Year at the Midlothian & East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards (MELCC). The nomination marks a potential hat-trick of award success for the business, following its High Growth Business of the Year win in 2025 and New Business of the Year the previous year.
