The Solar Pyramid Building is a distinctive landmark designed with sustainability at its core. Featuring an early-generation solar PV system, the building was among the first in the area to embrace renewable energy. Over time, however, system performance declined, and limited monitoring made it difficult to detect faults or identify underperforming panels.

Gensource was appointed to assess and upgrade the existing solar PV installation to improve efficiency, reliability, and monitoring capability. Following a detailed technical survey, our team identified shading and mismatch losses as key factors reducing generation.

To resolve these issues, Gensource installed SolarEdge power optimisers on each individual panel, enabling panel-level monitoring and performance optimisation. The legacy inverter was replaced with a high-efficiency SolarEdge inverter, ensuring full system compatibility and improved operational reliability.

Since commissioning in August 2025, the upgraded system has produced 35.5 MWh of electrical energy, with 739 Wh/Wp total energy produced, demonstrating a clear improvement in performance and energy yield. The enhanced monitoring system now provides real-time insights into generation and system health, helping the building owners maximise output, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the lifespan of their solar PV array.
